Jumpstyle is divided into 4 diffrent arts/styles.
Styles
Oldschool Jump (Original Jumpstyle)
Oldschool jump is the original art of jumpstyle, which we’re originally named just jumpstyle.
From rumors it says it came from Belgium at small dance clubs and later spreaded around in the world.
Oldschool Jump is based on 5 basic steps, these steps are very easy to learn, which makes jumpstyle funny, cause anyone can join in.
Hardjump
Hardjump was the first development on the original jumpstyle steps.
From rumors it says it came from the Netherlands and Germany.
Hardjump is based on 6 basic steps, the dance is a bit more advanced than oldschool jump,
mainly because with Hardjump it became popular to dance to hardstyle music instead of jumpstyle music, which made some big changes to jumpstyle in speed.
Sidejump
Sidejump was a further development on hardjump.
Sidejump came from the Netherlands and was created by a jumper on youtube by the nick: Jumpingjob.
He was a respected jumper trough youtube, suddenly he choosed to end jumping made a ending video containing a new style called: Sidejump. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX4ZuV_7bOY)
Another jumper by the nick: Samurai from Rusland toke this style to him, he was very popular and with his videos, sidejump was spreading around on youtube.
Sidejump contains 6 basic steps, the diffrence from hardjump to sidejump is when doing the change legs ‘jump’ instead of doing it with the legs backward it’s done forward.
Ownstyle (Own Style)
Ownstyle was a further development on every style.
Ownstyle came from Poland, started out with jumpers doing youtube videos with titles like: ‘Jumpingblabla Own style’
Own style is two seperated words with the meaning of you’re having you’re own style.
With time the two words got combined and became ownstyle.
A various of Poland jumpers spreaded it out through youtube, jumpers like: DannieL, Rumun and others.
Suddenly ownstyle was not just two words (own style) but was stated as an style (ownstyle) in the underground.
Battling
Tournaments/Leagues
Jumpstyle is a underground dance, which makes tournaments difficult,
thats why mostly tournaments/leagues is done online.
Jumpers creates free websites, and some buy websites, hire judges and start doing leagues.
But many online leagues shuts down fast unfortunately.
Still some bigger communities with leagues/tournaments reamains.
Torunaments/Leagues is often made with a 1n1 knockout system starting out with 1-2 groupstages
Other Battlings
Battles is also done between jumpers
Jumpers like to show of in battles cause battles makes them improve and stay better.
Thats why often battles is done at meetups our online out from leagues just between them.
